The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Furman University has announced its slate of summer classes. Conducted for the first time ever via Zoom, the four-week sessions run June 2-26. Registration is available online or by mail.

Fourteen courses, including fitness, religion, history, music, art and more, are available to adults 50 and older, but no adult will be turned away.

Classes such as Oil Painting, Interesting Characters in History, and Yoga for the Curious meet for an hour and a half to two hours each week for four weeks. The cost for all four weeks per class is $35 except for Guitar III, which is $40.

OLLI at Furman Director Nancy Kennedy says there’s no better time to try OLLI.

“It’s a great time to do something for yourself while you stay at home, and there’s no membership fee for the summer,” she said.

OLLI will host Zoom orientation sessions for members and those interested in taking a class. “Our members have found that Zoom is easier to use than they imagined, and online classes are more engaging than they ever expected,” Kennedy said.

In addition to the four-week Zoom classes, OLLI is offering five different Friday Bonus One-Day Trips and Events at no charge. The Zoom bonus events also meet for two hours and explore topics like Goats 4 Goodness and Learning About Oils and Vinegars.
