A beautiful day in the neighborhood

Furman University alumna Alise Alexander ’16 pens an article about forgotten neighborhood traditions in “Public Discourse,” the journal of the Witherspoon Institute. Despite the cloud of COVID-19, Alexander sees a silver lining – neighbors, who scarcely saw one another before the outbreak, are now safely gathering on lawns and porches and are finding other ways to connect in their nearby spaces. Alexander majored in French at Furman and later earned a master’s in education at the University of Notre Dame. She serves as campus minister at St. Joseph’s Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
