Army of virus tracers takes shape in Massachusetts
While many join the ranks of the unemployed or are furloughed due to COVID-19, some enter into the employ of virus trackers like Partners in Health. At the behest of Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker, the nonprofit has recently added a corps of 1,000 contact tracers who track down people who have been exposed to the coronavirus. The initiative aims to identify pockets of infection as they emerge, and prevent infected people from spreading the virus further.
Alexandra Cross, a 2014 Furman University health sciences graduate who is studying nutrition at Tufts University, is one of the company’s newly minted public health workers. Read more in The New York Times.
