In an article appearing in The Greenville News, the question posed to Furman University Politics and International Affairs Professor Danielle Vinson and others is “What makes a South Carolina Democrat?” About the state’s Democratic electorate, comprised of a mix of black moderates and white liberals, Vinson said, “We have a strange combination. It’s going to be the first opportunity you have to see that combination of things. That tells you how you’re going to do in the South.”
