Paladins near and far came together December 3 to celebrate Furman’s seventh annual Giving Tuesday event. Alumni, students, parents and friends contributed $232,721 – $16,587 more than last year.

During the 24-hour online giving event, donors made gifts of varying sizes, which all add up to transform the student experience at Furman. Support from the event will help fund scholarships, research, study away experiences, athletics and various other programs at the university.

“We are continually amazed by the generosity of our Furman family,” said Director of Annual Giving Rebecca Bilott. “In just 24 hours, we received an overwhelming amount of support, which truly impacts each and every student on campus.”

Throughout the day, donors participated in several giving challenges, providing them the opportunity to win Furman blankets, Furman Christmas ornaments and other university apparel. More than 40 participants were announced Wednesday as challenge winners.

“I give to Furman because as a student I felt consistently connected to donors who supported my stay at Furman either in scholarships or extracurricular activities,” said Grace Honohan ’18. “I want to support that connection for future students.”
