Martha Milam ’90 receives presidential award for teaching excellence

East Coweta High School chemistry teacher Martha Milam has been named as a state of Georgia winner of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, the highest award given by the U.S. government to K-12 math and science teachers. Milam, a 1990 Furman University chemistry graduate, was featured in a Winters Media publication.  “It is a great privilege to work in a school district that encourages us as teachers to pursue our goals and seek out what uniquely inspires us,” Milam said.  “When teachers can be creative in the classroom, it ultimately leads to the success of our students.”
