D-Day would be nearly impossible to pull off today

How feasible would the Allied invasion at Normandy be today in light of the many eyes in the sky and the ubiquity of social media? Not very, according to Furman University politics and international affairs graduate Danielle Lupton ’08. The Colgate University political science professor explains the success at Normandy hinged on trusted relationships, fabricated “armies” and thoughtful dissemination of bogus military information–tactics that were easier to pull off in 1944 than in today’s digital world.
