Furman cuts ties to slavery, makes changes in response to report

Brennan McDavid, a reporter with WYFF 4, was among the media attending the announcement centered on a report crafted by Furman University’s Task Force on Slavery and Justice. In “Seeking Abraham,” the task force recommended several action items including erecting a statue of Joseph Vaughn, the first African American to enroll at the university. McDavid spoke with Deborah Allen, director of the Center for Inclusive Communities. The story also includes video of Furman board member Baxter Wynn who shares recommendations.
