Commencement exercises moved to Timmons Arena; students will march down the mall

The commencement ceremony will be broadcast live here.

Due to inclement weather and the forecast for rain, commencement exercises scheduled for Paladin Stadium at 7:30 p.m. tonight will take place in Timmons Arena.

Students will still partake in the traditional march down the mall, and should report to McAlister Auditorium at 6:15 p.m. as originally planned.

Furman officials continue to monitor weather conditions. If the possibility of severe weather increases and it becomes necessary to cancel the student march down the mall, then another message will be sent by text and email. That message will include updated information and instructions.

Faculty and the platform party will still need to report to the Herring Suite at Timmons at 6:30 p.m.

The streaming video broadcast of commencement will be available in McAlister Auditorium, which seats approximately 1,850 people.

Five guest tickets for the rain site were issued to each degree candidate at rehearsal on Friday afternoon. Students should direct their guests to enter through the main doors to the arena, which will open at 6 p.m.

Faculty, graduates and singers are to park in the Chapel Lot South (between the chapel and football stadium).

Any additional weather updates will be provided through Furman’s campus alert systems and posted on the Furman home page. You may also call the university weather hotline at 864.294.3766 for the most up-to-date information.
