The Furman University community came together April 30 for the fifth annual Dins Day, a 24-hour celebration of Paladin pride and philanthropy.

This year, alumni, students, parents and friends of the university contributed 2,678 gifts totaling $2,623,049. All together, the five Dins Day events have raised more than $7.4 million in support of Furman students, programs and initiatives.

“We are overwhelmed by the generosity of the Furman family,” said Rebecca Bilott, director of annual giving and coordinator of the campaign.“This support will have an immediate impact on so many of the university’s top priorities, including scholarships, research and internships, study away experiences, athletics and more.”

For the celebration, which coincides with the last day of classes at Furman, students showed Paladin pride by donning purple and participating in Dins Day activities, such as the time-honored fountain plunge. Furman faculty and staff recognized employee giving at the university’s annual employee appreciation luncheon. Alumni, parents and other supporters joined the festivities by taking part in giving incentives and sharing photos on social media, using #DinsDay.

Special Dins Day-themed events were hosted by the university in Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston, Columbia, Dallas, Greenville, Houston, Nashville Richmond, Raleigh and Washington, D.C.
