Furman University students, alumni, parents and friends will join together Tuesday, April 30, to kick off the fifth annual Dins Day, a 24-hour celebration of Paladin pride and philanthropy.

Themed “Furman5ever,” the event encourages the Furman community to show its support by wearing purple, giving to the university and gathering with fellow Paladins. With giving challenges hosted throughout the day, the university aims to break its record of 2,500 gifts.

“Dins Day is a wonderful opportunity to recognize students and alumni for their continued support of Furman,” said Rebecca Bilott, director of annual giving.

Campus will host numerous activities for students, who are also celebrating their last day of classes, while Furman family and friends are invited to a lunch at Soby’s on E. Court Street in downtown Greenville. The event will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature Bob Richey, head coach of men’s basketball; Clay Hendrix, head football coach; and Jackie Carson, head coach of women’s basketball. Attendees will be able to meet the coaches and mingle with fellow Furman fans over lunch and sidewalk games.

In addition, Furman alumni are invited to an evening of bowling, games and food at the Spare Time Entertainment’s elite suite room from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

In recognition of Dins Day, more than 25 boutiques, restaurants and stores in downtown Greenville will show their support by offering special discounts to students and alumni. The stores along Main Street are offering a variety of promotions, and all participating businesses will have purple balloons and sidewalk clings on display.

“This day is a true demonstration of what can happen when Paladins come together to advance the university,” Bilott said. “And it’s not just celebrated in Greenville, but across the globe.”
