Research by 2018 Furman graduate Emma Winiski is cited in a New York Times article about what could happen to many Americans if the Affordable Care Act is ruled unconstitutional. The article refers to a study in the Urban Institute, “Rapid Growth in Medicaid Spending and Prescriptions to Treat Opioid Use Disorder and Opioid Overdose from 2010 to 2017,” which Winiski authored with three other members of the Health Policy Institute.

Winiski, who graduated from Furman last year with a degree in health sciences and mathematics-economics, is a research assistant in the Urban Institute’s Health Policy Center. Her current works focuses on treatment of substance use disorder under Medicaid and analysis of survey data.
