Richard W. Riley receives Good Scout award

The honorable Richard W. Riley, founder of the Riley Institute at Furman, was recognized March 5 with the Good Scout Award at the Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America Patron Fundraising Dinner. The event benefits Upstate scouting programs and honors outstanding members and leaders of the community within the Blue Ridge Council. The former U.S. Secretary of Education and two-term South Carolina governor is a longtime supporter of scouting and was honored for exemplifying scouting values and for positively impacting the youth of the Upstate.
