Overcoming the disparities
The Younts Conference Center at Furman hosted a special forum this week that looked at education reform in South Carolina. One of the panelists was former U.S. Secretary of Education and S.C. Gov. Dick Riley, a 1954 Furman graduate. The forum was the second of four hosted by The Post and Courier in the wake of the newspaper’s series “Minimally Adequate,” which detailed how disparities have left thousands of South Carolina students unprepared for college or the modern workforce after high school. The Charleston newspaper was there to cover the event.
