The Furman Faculty Chamber Music Series will present a concert Friday, Feb. 1, at 8 p.m. in Daniel Recital Hall on campus. Following the recital in the DuPre Rhame Foyer, guests will have an opportunity to meet the performers at a reception hosted by the sisters of Sigma Alpha Iota.

The Sound Quality Series event is open to the public and is presented by the Furman Department of Music. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, and $5 for students.

The second concert of Furman’s 2018-19 Faculty Chamber Music Series, the event features more than a dozen faculty performers who will present a diverse range of music by various composers.

Starting with a rhythmical piece for cello and percussion by South Carolina-born composer Andy Akiho, the program continues with the tuneful Suite for Oboe, Clarinet, and Viola by Randall Thompson; the virtuosic Sonata for Violin and Cello by Maurice Ravel; “Blue Mountain Ballads” by Paul Bowles; and two jazz tunes written by Furman saxophone professor Matt Olson.

Faculty members expected to perform include Ian Bracchitta, bass, Omar Carmenates, percussion, John Daugherty, baritone, Keith Davis, piano, Rick Dilling, drums, Vivian Hamilton, piano, Christopher Hutton, violoncello, Deirdre Hutton, violin, Anna Joiner, viola, Cecilia Kang, clarinet, Matt Olson, saxophone, Petrea Warneck, oboe, and Steve Watson, guitar.
