Decatur chooses Andrea Arnold as new city manager
Andrea Arnold, a 1993 Furman University political science/urban studies graduate, has been named city manager of Decatur, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta. Arnold has worked for the city exactly 21 years (hired in Nov. 1997) and has served as assistant city manager since 2004. Apart from managing a city of 225 full-time employees, she’ll lead the charge in developing the city’s 2020 strategic plan. “Outside of that,” she said, “I’ll be doing a lot of listening. We have a city that’s doing well in all areas and is financially viable. I’m certainly not coming in with an agenda to make wholesale changes.” Read more about Decatur’s first female city manager in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
