Furman University’s sixth annual Giving Tuesday brought in 744 gifts—119 more than this year’s goal—totaling $216,134.

Contributions made during the 24-hour online giving event on Nov. 27 enhance the student experience by supporting scholarships, research, study away, athletics and various other programs at the university.

“The generosity of the Furman community demonstrates the powerful impact we can make when we come together in support of our students,” said Director of Annual Giving Rebecca Bilott. “In just one day, we saw gifts of all sizes add up to make a significant difference for the university.”

Fifteen giving challenges motivated donors throughout the event, providing them the opportunity to win Paladin hammocks, license plates, blankets, mugs, ornaments and other Furman apparel. More than 40 donors were announced Wednesday as challenge winners.

Last year’s event raised $148,394 through 668 gifts.
