Furman holds Christmas Love Feast service Dec. 2
Furman University will host its annual Moravian Christmas Love Feast service Sunday, Dec. 2, at 5 p.m. in Daniel Memorial Chapel on campus.
The event is free and open to the public and is presented by the Furman Office of Spiritual Life.
Based on traditions originating in the early Apostolic church, then later in the Moravian church, the Love Feast celebrates the Christian season of Advent, the anticipation of the Christ child.
The service includes the serving of traditional Moravian buns and coffee, and the lighting of beeswax candles in Daniel Chapel, which will be illuminated by pew candle staffs and decorated with holiday greenery.
Furman University students will lead in the service, including The Peers vocal ensemble, chancel instrumentalists, and members of the Exploration of Vocation and Ministry program.
