Charles Davis to speak at Upcountry History Museum-Furman Nov. 14

Charles Davis, Furman’s First Gentleman and author of “In the Kitchen at White Oaks,” will be the featured guest at the Lunchbox Learning series Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the Upcountry History Museum-Furman. The program runs from noon to 1 p.m.

Davis will talk about the book, which includes recipes from the families of Furman presidents John Plyler (1939-1964), Gordon Blackwell (1965-1976), John E. Johns (1976-1994), David Shi (1994-2010), Carl Kohrt (2013-14) and current president Elizabeth Davis.

Books will be available for purchase, and Davis will sign books after the program.

The series is free to members of the museum. Guests pay the regular admission fee. Those with a Furman ID can attend for half price. Drinks and dessert will be provided.
