Time for election reform
In an op-ed for The Post and Courier in Charleston, Furman Politics and International Affairs Professor Brent Nelsen argues that it’s time to reform the election system in South Carolina and let the state’s citizens elect leaders they can trust. “Americans have lost trust in their democratic institutions and elected representatives,” he writes. “This holds true at the national and state levels, and South Carolina is no exception. Restoring trust is essential to the survival of republican government in this country. Now is the time to make important changes.”
