Furman Theatre presents “Lobby Hero” by Lonergan
Furman University Theatre will present Kenneth Lonergan’s “Lobby Hero” Oct. 10-13 and Oct. 18-20 at 8 p.m., with Sunday matinee showings Oct. 14 and Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. All performances take place in The Playhouse on the Furman campus.
Directed by Furman Professor of Theatre Jay Oney, the play is open to the public. Tickets are $18 for adults, $15 for seniors and $10 for students.
“Lobby Hero” was Tony-nominated in 2018 for Best Revival of a Play. Time Out calls it “A masterpiece. The best drama, the best comedy, and the best romance of the year, all rolled into one.”
Says The New York Times, “In the age of #MeToo and Black Lives Matter, Americans may be newly receptive to Lobby Hero. But don’t imagine that this work is an agenda-driven debate.”
Cast members include Furman junior Matt Middleton (Ashburn, Virginia) as Jeff; freshman Dennis Cheeks (Columbia, South Carolina) as William; sophomore Elizabeth Collins (Buffalo, New York) as Dawn; and freshman Erik Bodien (Edgewater, Florida) as Bill.
