Freshman Women’s Golf team member Kyra Cox is featured in a Golfweek article. In it, she describes how her autistic sister, Kaylee, first inspired her to take up the game and now continues to motivate her to pursue excellence.

The South Salem, New York athlete qualified for the 2016 USGA Women’s Amateur after becoming the youngest player ever to win the New York State Women’s Amateur, at age 15. She also qualified for the Drive, Chip, and Putt national competition at Augusta National, where she finished third. As Cox embarks on her career at Furman, she’ll bring the perspective derived from her relationship with Kaylee. “It’s a lot easier for me to be the top female golfer in the world than it is for Kaylee to do everyday things,” she said.
