‘The epitome of honorable public service’

On Monday, Aug. 6, Furman alum Richard W. Riley ’54 will be honored as the University of South Carolina opens a collection of Riley’s papers to the public. President Bill Clinton is scheduled to speak at the event. Prior to the ceremony, The Greenville News wrote about the years of Riley’s exceptional public service, which includes serving two terms as South Carolina governor and another two terms of U.S. Secretary of Education under President Clinton.
