Overturning Roe v. Wade would send issue back to states
With President Donald Trump’s nomination of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, speculation swirls around the prospect of overturning Roe v. Wade, the 1973 landmark decision handed down by the United States Supreme Court on the issue of the constitutionality of laws that criminalized or restricted access to abortions. Furman University Professor of Politics and International Affairs Glen Halva-Neubauer offers his opinion in an article appearing in the Kansas City Star. Halva-Neubauer, who has studied abortion policy for decades, said, “I don’t think Roe is going to fall, but my sense is that states are going to get a lot more leeway to regulate abortion than they already have.”
