Quantifiable data and outcomes assessment

In an opinion piece for The New York Times, Molly Worthen, a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, writes that more “university administrators want campuswide, quantifiable data that reveal what skills students are learning.” As part of her research, she talked with David Eubanks, Furman’s assistant vice president for assessment and institutional effectiveness. “I think assessment practices are ripe for re-examining,” said Eubanks, who is a member of a Furman research team that generates and uses data to support The Furman Advantage.
