Furman Chemistry professor Greg Springsteen and students in his lab recently published half a decade’s worth of findings resulting from experiments they’ve conducted. The science journal Nature Communications reveals the study led by Springsteen and company, and scientists at The Scripps Research Institute in California. The researchers advance the idea that key chemical reactions that support life today could have been carried out with ingredients likely present on Earth some four billion years ago. Springsteen speaks to Greenville Journal’s Andrew Moore about the study’s implications.
