Success in the lab

Research by Furman Chemistry Professor Greg Springsteen and two of his students have contributed to a new study that offers an explanation for how life on earth might have begun. The research, conducted in conjunction with scientists at The Scripps Research Institute, was published Monday in the journal Nature Communications. The Furman students involved in the research efforts were Julia Nelson ’15 and Chandler Joel Rhea ‘19. Science news outlets across the world picked up on the exciting discovery, including Gizmodo, Newsline, The Scripps Howard Research Institute and the Royal Society of Chemistry in the United Kingdom.
