2016 Furman Communication Studies graduate Marco Carrizales came to the University in 2014 after playing two seasons at Southern Methodist University. At Furman, Carrizales appeared in 15 matches and logged 13 starts for the Paladins, and scored the match-winning goals in victories over Winthrop and VMI. Now Carrizales has his sights set on bigger goals as president of Greenville FC, the latest expansion team for the National Premier Soccer League. The league, which began in 2003, has nearly 100 clubs that compete in four regions and 14 conferences. In an article appearing in The Greenville News, Carrizales says, “Our main focus is to have a high-level team that can represent the Greenville area. Being a former player I’ve seen the talent in this area, but it has not had the platform to showcase it. That is one thing we aim to do.”
