America’s brand of nationalism excludes critical perspectives
Can one love their country too much? As Americans, are we so nationalistic that we are blinded to ways in which the country can improve? Furman Politics and International Affairs Professor Akan Malici says promoting nationalism can lead to dangerous consequences. In an opinion piece for The Greenville News, he writes that “our nationalism helps exclude many critical perspectives that are crucially needed in our public discourse. The resulting ignorance is most unfortunate.”
