Opening in August this year, COPA Indoor Soccer is the only premium indoor soccer facility in the Greenville area. And it’s the brainchild of Furman graduates Anthony Esquivel (2003) and his wife Olivia (de Castro) Esquivel (2006). Located in the Berea community, which is 25 percent Latino/Hispanic, COPA is a place where “On any given evening, soccer enthusiasts of all ages, races, and socio-economic backgrounds take to the field to compete, work on their skills, stay in shape, and … have a good time,” says Steven Tingle of TOWN magazine.

Anthony, a soccer standout at Furman 1999-2003, was a political science graduate, coached club soccer in his home state of Texas, and was an associate head soccer coach and recruiting coordinator at Furman. Olivia, a communication studies and Spanish major, spent years at Greenville Health System in public relations and later created her own PR firm. Together the two opened Southern Pressed Juicery in downtown Greenville. COPA is the latest product of the couple’s entrepreneurial sensibilities.
