WhatWorksSC Award finalists in the spotlight


The three finalists for the Dick and Tunky Riley WhatWorksSC Award for Excellence get the spotlight during a “Palmetto Scene” segment airing on SCETV. Winning top prize is Make Summer Count, a program of Public Education Partners in collaboration with Greenville County Schools and Scholastic, Inc., which aims to reduce summer reading loss.

Also featured were runners up–Camp iRock, an initiative of United Way of Pickens County, the School District of Pickens County, and the YMCA; and Innovate! a program built by Greenville County’s A.J. Whittenberg Elementary.

Announced Oct. 24 in Columbia, the award was presented by Furman’s Riley Institute and South Carolina Future Minds, who together celebrate education initiatives which improve the lives of students across South Carolina.
