Americans are misled by Trump

Despite confirmation from high-ranking U.S. officials that Iran is holding up its end of the bargain, President Donald Trump continues to claim Iran is flouting its obligations under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a.k.a. the Iran nuclear deal. Furman Politics and International Affairs professor Akan Malici says Trump is politicizing the JCPOA and shaping intelligence to conform to his misguided Iran policy. Malici warns, “If the JCPOA collapses because of our continuously wrongheaded president, there won’t be constraints any longer on Iran’s nuclear program. Iran would be able to go nuclear and, given the continuous U.S. threats, its leaders might well be motivated to develop this deterrent.” Read more in an opinion piece Malici wrote for The Greenville News.
