Furman University is ranked among the top 12 percent of American colleges and universities—and the highest among South Carolina institutions—in the 2017 rankings released today by The Wall Street Journal and Times Higher Education.

Furman was ranked No. 130 among more than 1,000 U.S. institutions of higher education that made the list.

The WSJ/THE rankings, which are based in part on responses from more than 100,000 current college students, emphasize how well a college prepares students for life after graduation. According to the rankings, “40 percent of each school’s overall score comes from student outcomes, including a measure of graduate salaries, 30 percent from the school’s academic resources, 20 percent from how well it engages its students and 10 percent from the diversity of its students and staff.”
