How animals at the Greenville Zoo reacted to the solar eclipse
The celestial spectacle of the total solar eclipse drew excitement among the human population. But Furman University biology professor John Quinn said animals also exhibited behaviors that signaled their awareness of strange things happening in their world. Quinn, whose students installed video cameras at various locations at the Greenville Zoo, said, “The footage was exciting to watch. We captured some really weird reactions from several animals throughout the zoo, especially the birds.” Were the reactions a result of the added people at the zoo and their excitement? Or were the reactions a response to the darkness falling over the city at midday? Read the story by Andrew Moore in the Greenville Journal to find out more.
