Colleges get proactive in helping students

An article in The New York Times looks at how colleges and universities are increasingly focused on trying to understand what interventions work best for students who are “facing mental- and emotional-health troubles.” The article cites a “groundbreaking effort” funded by The Duke Endowment and being undertaken by Furman and three other colleges in the Carolinas. Connie Carson, Furman’s vice president for student life, is quoted in the article.
