Able ’18 is a Communication Studies major from Saluda, S.C.

Furman Communication Studies major Allie Able ’18 says poorer South Carolina schools set the bar low in terms of college and career expectations compared to their suburban counterparts. Able of Saluda, S.C. says,  “We are asked from a young age, by our teachers and other prominent adults, what we want to be when we grow up. What kind of society would ask this question to children and then not give them the tools they need to get there?” Read more in the guest column Able wrote for The State.
