Vice President for Student Life Connie Carson received The Founder’s Award from the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers (SEAHO) during the Association’s annual meeting, which took place Feb. 28-March 3 in Chattanooga, Tenn. The Association’s highest honor, the SEAHO Founder’s Award gives special recognition to an individual within the Association who, through dedicated service and initiative to SEAHO, has epitomized the work and endeavors of the founders of the Southeastern Association of Housing Officers.

On Carson’s behalf, one nominator wrote, “This individual has mentored young professionals throughout their career offering advice, knowledge, and a listening ear to help grow strong staff to serve students. This individual’s sage advice has helped many staff consider the strongest paths for their own development, and there are leaders throughout the higher education community that will credit this individual with assisting them to be successful.” Another wrote, “[Carson] possesses a natural and keen knowledge for strategic planning, has provided leadership and encouragement for housing colleagues to embrace knowledge-based decision making strategies and serves as the quintessential housing mentor for all. This person has a special place in their heart for mentoring and encouraging, and is one of the founding members of the WOHO (Women in Housing) circle.”
