Another honor for George Ligler

|

George Ligler, a 1971 Furman graduate and one of the university’s six Rhodes Scholars, is among the newly elected members of the The National Academy of Engineering.  Election to NAE is among the highest professional distinctions accorded to an engineer, and membership honors those who have made outstanding contributions to “engineering research, practice or education” as well as pioneering “new and developing fields of technology.”

Ligler, who earned a Ph.D. in computer science from Oxford University after graduating from Furman, was honored for “leadership and engineering innovation in specifying and implementing complex computer-based systems for aviation and the U.S. Census.”
