In their book, Religion and the Struggle for European Union, Furman political scientists Jim Guth and Brent Nelsen examine the role religion still plays on the continent, especially as it concerns support for or opposition to the European Union. In a lengthy interview with The Washington Post, the two professors explain why Catholics tend to favor European integration and Protestants tend to resist it.
