Focusing on Community Health

The Greenville News writes about Furman’s new Institute for the Advancement of Community Health, which “creates another major community facing role for the university as it seeks to marry the medical expertise of the hospital system with existing community organizations devoted to supporting healthier lifestyles.” With support from its partnership with Greenville Health System, the institute will allow students and faculty to be more strategically involved in the work of community organizations devoted to supporting healthier lifestyles. The Greenville Journal also reported on the new institute, saying the  “goal is to tackle community health problems, an issue that health systems like GHS increasingly are addressing because of the new focus on keeping people healthy and out of the hospital.”
