Discovering Yom Kippur
It was during Furman’s foreign study program in England in 1976 that senior Candace McKibben developed a deep appreciation for a faith tradition she had not previously known. In a column for the Tallahassee Democrat, the now Rev. McKibben recounted memories of that trip and how she learned to appreciate the most important holy day in the Jewish year—Yom Kippur. McKibben, who graduated from Furman in 1977, is director of faith outreach at Big Bend Hospice and pastor of Tallahassee Fellowship.
