Furman Political Science professor Dr. Akan Malici says many of the troubles we face in the Middle East are due to United States policies there. In a Greenville News opinion piece, he says our special treatment of Israel and its political interests have strained relationships with others in the region, namely Palestinians. He says, “Becoming an honest broker in the Israel-Arab disputes will not solve all our challenges in the Middle East, but it will go its due distance. In fact, this is the best thing that U.S. leaders could do.”
