A Sustainable Model for Area Farms
As part of a $135,000 grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, Furman University Biology professor John Quinn, and Earth and Environmental Sciences professors Brannon Andersen and Courtney Quinn will tap area farms to help farmers get the most from the land and the animals that are raised on it. The research addresses how silvopasture – a landscape that combines pasture, trees and animals – improves agriculture sustainability. Andrew Moore of the Greenville Journal spoke with J. Quinn and Andersen about the scope of the project.
