It didn’t take Connor Bruns ’19 (Duncan, S.C.) long to get back into the swing of match play last Sunday at Bear Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head. Bruns, who hadn’t participated in match play in several years, took the S.C. Amateur Match Play title after a three-birdie front nine and another birdie on the back to seal the deal. In a piece by Jeff Shain of the The Island Packet, Bruns says, “You don’t have to kill your opponent with birdies. Hitting fairways, hitting greens and two putts makes a great score. It was getting back into the rhythm of hitting solid shots, not great shots. That’s the key.”
