The Rising Economic Discontent

Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have recognized the deep-seated concerns of Republicans and Democrats about their past, present and future economic prospects and their campaign messages have resonated with these concerns.  As a result, both campaigns have had an anti-establishment theme that appeals to the left and right sides of the political spectrum. In an op-ed for The Greenville News, Furman economics professor Robert Arden explains why the establishment should be paying close attention to those concerns.
