What a Difference a Century Makes

||
Research by Lane Harris, an Asian Studies and history professor at Furman, helped a writer learn more about his grandfather’s life in China. The writer, Ian Gill, found Harris’ research online about the modern Chinese postal service (1896-1949), which mentioned Gill’s grandfather in a footnote. After being contacted by Gill and spending about six hours researching various postal archival records, Harris gave the writer what he needed. The resulting story was published in the South China Morning Post Magazine.
