Reaching the Millennial Market
Nearly three years ago, Brooks Buffington ’13 had just graduated from Furman when he told his parents that he would forego a job in finance to develop apps with his friend and classmate Tyler Droll ’13. In late April 2016 during a keynote address at a technology and startup conference in Charleston, Buffington told a ballroom of entrepreneurs, tech professionals and investors how he and Droll developed the immensely popular message board app Yik Yak that has resonated with college students at more than 2,000 schools across the country.
