Furman graduate Paula Wallace ’70 was just 29 when she quit a grade-school teaching career to pursue her dream of starting an arts college. More than 30 years after it opened its doors, the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) offers more than 100 degree programs and graduates approximately 2,600 students every year from its various campuses. In an article in Cosmopolitan, Wallace reflects on making her dream of creating a “utopian educational environment” into a reality.
