When Laws are Bad for Business

Last month, North Carolina joined a growing number of state legislatures that have either passed or tried to pass bills that could enable discrimination against members of the gay, lesbians and transgender communities. The reaction to such laws has been pretty severe, especially in the business community. Furman business professor Tom Smythe commented about the situation for Toronto’s The Globe and Mail. “The reality is that in many ways the damage is already done, regardless of whether it passes,” he said.
