Consider the ways Furman has demonstrated its commitment to sustainability. Furman was a charter signatory for the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment; the Shi Center for Sustainability was established in 2008; Furman offers dozens of sustainability focused courses; Furman is the only undergraduate institution offering a sustainability science major; Furman has weatherized about 70 local low-income homes, and the list goes on. Business View Magazine, with more than 400,000 executive subscribers across the U.S. and Canada, spoke with Shi Center director Dr. Angela Halfacre, who was happy to articulate the ways Furman walks the sustainability talk. She says, “Sustainability is part of the fabric of life at Furman.”
